ONE OF OUR CUSTOM HOME CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Modern House in Kingsgate

In this project, we built a two-story modern house for our client.
The house follows a monochromatic color palette of cool grays with some wooden accents. The exterior is built with gray smooth cedar channel siding that is beautifully contrasted by the walnut entry door and the modern garage doors, both of which have frosted glass inserts.
The interior of the house has an open floor plan with a great room for the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The great room perfectly exhibits the modern monochromatic theme of the house with the extra-large concrete-effect tiles surrounding the fireplace, the white and gray minimalist kitchen cabinets, the stunning light gray backsplash, and the white quartz countertops.

What our customers are
saying about us

Christopher Ngan

We hired Shepel Homes to help us do an extensive renovation involving completely overhauling the kitchen, tearing down a wall, creating a new room, and installing extensive new lighting and bookshelf walls. Daniel, Philip, and Peter far exceeded our expectations and we would work with them again without hesitation.

Ajeyori

We hired Shepel homes construction for our bathroom remodel projects recently and we couldn’t be more pleased. The planning and execution was smooth and on time, project was on budget and we are pleased with our new bathrooms. This company also stands by the quality of their work and have provided amazing support for a few things that needed to be fixed or tweaked even after the project was completed. Shepel home comes highly recommended, as the trio of Peter, Phil and Daniel are, dependable, reliable and trustworthy.

Abigail Chastain

Daniel Shepel was referred to me to supply his clients’ cabinet for a total house remodeling project. We met at the jobsite and went over details, answering all my questions, providing information that assisted in the design of the kitchen and baths. Daniel stayed in touch with me all through meetings with his clients, and provided support along the way. I look forward to working on future projects with Shepel Homes and hope they feel the same!

Peter DeLaunay

Peter and Phillip are respected craftsmen who estimate a project and complete it in a timely manner and on budget…they are quick to remedy any situation. We have worked with Shepel Homes Construction on several projects and we highly recommend them.

Mike Treit

They built me this amazing house. The property was great, but house was a log cabin that was built in the 40s. It was a dark cave with very low ceilings and brown carpet that absorbed all the light, so one of my goals was to build something that was bright, open, and much livable and enjoyable.

Valery and Greg Li

Shepel Homes built an additional room on top of the existing deck that we had. The space before the remodel was an old deck that was not being used and we needed the extra room. Before hiring Shepel, we spoke to a number of contractors, but we really like the details that were given to us by Shepels for the estimate. Those details helped us know exactly what to expect when working with them.

Commonly Asked Questions

How much does it cost to build a home addition?

The price for home additions ranges from $70,000 to $200,000 depending on square footage, complexity, and level of finishing.

Should I choose to build out or build up? Which is cheaper?

Each project is different. Ultimately, the decision will be based on your needs, the structural aspects of the house, and the site plan. It is best to consult with a professional and have the site inspected. You should note, however, that it is cheaper to build out as building up will involve a more complex framing work. Additionally, building up might not be compatible with homeowners living on-site during construction due to safety reasons which can increase the cost of the project.

What is the best home addition that could add value to my house?

The best addition to the house is the one that adds additional utility and comfort apart from square footage. For example, an extra bathroom or a second kitchen.

What things should I consider if I want a second story addition?

First of all, you need to have the foundation inspected by a professional in order to assess if it is capable of holding another floor. Second, structural evaluations and calculations should be conducted for the second story addition to ensure that they are properly implemented. Lastly, you might consider moving out of the house for the duration of the construction as it may be quite challenging to live in an environment where construction is ongoing on the floor above you.

How long does building a home addition usually take?

A home addition construction can take from 6 to 12 months depending on complexity.
